Wheelin' is a silicon wheelchair accessory that adapts a wheelchair to help with steering, hand and wrist pain, as well as extending the grip to prevent your hands getting caught in the wheels.
For 24 hours we put ourselves in the shoes of someone in a wheel chair. After building empathy, we developed and tested foam prototypes. The series of foam prototypes allowed us to adapt the shape and size to proper economics. Different factors, such as hand size, made it difficult for a person with small hands to get all the way around a cylindrical accessory. Therefore, we added a divot to the inside which improved the grip for universal hand sizes.
